Originally from Romania, he studied with Florentine sculptor Raffaello Romanelli from 1909 before moving to Paris and entering the École des Beaux-Arts, where he frequented the studios of Antonin Mercié and Jean Boucher. His association with foundries and publishers such as Les neveux de Jules Lehmann and Etling brought him considerable commercial success.
